Digital nomad cities ranked by monthly cost

For long-stay travellers and remote workers, the headline daily number understates how affordable a city actually is. Long-stay rents run roughly 40% lower than nightly rates, and locals' food and transit prices apply. This ranking uses a monthly cost-of-living estimate — rent + food + transit + miscellaneous — not the tourist day rate.

How this list is built

Selection rule: ranked by estimated monthly cost of living — long-stay rent (≈60% of nightly mid-range × 30) plus food, local transit and miscellaneous at local prices. Tourist activities are stripped out.

Bottom line

The cheapest nomad cities cluster in Southeast Asia and parts of Central Europe — low labour cost, mature long-stay rental markets, decent connectivity.
